PRESS RELEASE
Belém, Brazil, 15 November 2025.
The Climate Reality Project Indonesia marked its sixteenth year with the launch of a bilingual photobook and a set of visual coaching & reflection tools at the Indonesia Pavilion during the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP30 UNFCCC, in Belém, Brazil. The event brought together delegates from many countries who have long been engaged in climate action.
The photobook “Through the Lens: Stories of Climate and Sustainability”, produced in collaboration with the mataWaktu Visual Research Foundation under the guidance of Oscar Motuloh, presents 148 pages of vivid visual stories. The images capture daily life, landscapes, and sustainability practices from across Indonesia. Each photograph conveys the care and persistence of communities as they nurture their living environment.
“Dalam Lensa: Visual Coaching and Reflection Tools”, developed with Sinergia Group Indonesia under the leadership of Coach Amelia Hirawan, consists of thirty photographs, thirty key words, and thirty reflective questions. This set is designed to support group conversations and personal reflection by pairing strong visuals with prompts that encourage participants to slow down and be fully present in the reflective process.
The photographs in both the photobook and the coaching tools come from Climate Reality Leaders, partners, friends, and volunteers. Their contributions enrich every page and demonstrate the power of collaboration in climate work.
Amanda Katili Niode, Director of The Climate Reality Project Indonesia, shared her gratitude with the photo contributors. “I am deeply thankful to everyone who shared their photographs. These visual resources would not exist without their generosity and willingness to contribute. Each image carries a story, and each story offers hope that climate action can take root anywhere.”
The launch session featured Coach Faduma Hassan, cofounder of Social Movement Coaching in the United Kingdom, along with Ari W. Adipratomo and Arifah Handayani from Climate Reality Indonesia. They spoke about the role of visual storytelling in building empathy and widening public understanding of climate issues.
From Belém, Indonesia brings a simple message: solidarity and imagination can open new pathways in confronting the climate crisis. The visuals presented today mark the beginning of a longer conversation about creating a more livable future.
